Ian Mitchell is a Scottish writer and journalist who lived for many years in Russia. He is the author of four books, including Isles of the West: a Hebridean Voyage and The Justice Factory: Show Me the Judge and I’ll Tell You the Law. He reviews GOOD books which he has read recently in connection with his long-term writing project: “Russia, the Rule of Law”. This will tell the story of the historical interaction of Russia and the Anglosphere worldwide. It will cover politics, culture and economics, as well as constitutional law. His main focus is on the relations between the власты and the народ. His aim is to explain, in historical terms, how Russia has come to be as it is. His reading recommendations feature on the Moscow-Moffatt website, which is published in Scotland, but read worldwide—wherever people are interested in relations between the English-speaking world and Russia.
