Small Wars

Remember Them Too

Written by a former soldier…..
I was there I know I was
At least I didn’t die
But some of ours they did so
Another body….sigh
Northern Ireland our homeland
We don’t expect to fall
And inside our own country
We should never have to cry
To comrades who were wounded there
To comrades who were killed
It was no less dangerous
Than poppy battlefields
And now we must remember
The suffering in previous past
South Korea and Aden
Examples of those times
Iraq and Afghan did not work out
For some who served out there
As tough as dying on Falkland
Or other places near
Those of us who lived in full
Without the sacrifice
We live now to tell you all
Of those who paid the price
Death and wounds they happen
Wherever the campaign
But let’s remember all of them
Never left behind… way!
