I am working on a full-length documentary with the working title “The Alarm”. The film will tell about the unique monuments of Moscow architecture built in the XVI-XX centuries. Many of them are in a horrible state. Alexander Pushkin, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Alexander Ostrovsky, Leo Tolstoy, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Mikhail Vrubel, Isaac Levitan, Anton Chekhov, Alexander Blok, Konstantin Stanislavski, Feodor Chaliapin, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Ivan Bunin, Anna Akhmatova, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Sergei Eisenstein, and other great figures of Russian culture lived, studied, worked, or visited these houses.
Unfortunately, these unique buildings are abandoned by the Russian state for various reasons, which is why they are deprived of care, are in disrepair and are falling into disrepair. Many of them are facing a threat to become ruins or being torn down. My film aims to attract broad public attention to this cultural catastrophe and save these buildings before it’s too late.
I want to make an honest film, free from any government control. That is why I have decided to raise funds for film production with the help of crowdfunding on the Internet.
